Meizu smartphones are now available in South Africa
It’s taken long enough, but Meizu smartphones are finally available in South Africa.
2C Telecoms has launched an online store in South Africa, serving as the partner for the Chinese manufacturer in the country.
As for devices available from the store, we have the budget-minded Meizu M3 Note and the flagship Meizu Pro 6 handsets. The M3 Note has a R3299 price tag while the Pro 6 has a R7999 price (the same price as the Xiaomi Mi 5).
The M3 Note is similar to the M2 Note, packing an octacore (A53 cores) Helio P10 chip, 2GB of RAM, 5.5-inch full HD LCD screen and 16GB of expandable storage (via hybrid slot). However, the biggest change is the battery, which has been upgraded from 3100mAh to a large 4100mAh pack.
The M3 Note also features a 13MP f/2.2 main camera and a 5MP front-facing shooter.
The Meizu Pro 6 packs some solid specs while the M3 Note seems to be a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 rival
The Pro 6 packs a 10-core Helio X25 processor (two A72 cores and two clusters of four A53 cores), being the most powerful MediaTek chipset on the market right now — the Helio X23 and X27 aren’t in any commercially available phones just yet.
Otherwise, you’ve got 4GB of RAM, a 5.2-inch full HD AMOLED display with 3D Touch, 32GB of internal storage (no microSD support), dual-SIM slots and a rather average-sized 2560mAh battery with fast-charging.
In the camera department, the Pro 6 packs a 21MP f/2.2 main camera (supporting 4K video), as well as a 5MP selfie shooter with 1.4 micron pixels.
Both phones pack Meizu’s distinctive Flyme OS skin and front-mounted fingerprint scanners.
WeFix is also the official repair partner for the devices, the online store confirmed on its website.
We’ve received both Meizu phones for review purposes, so expect our impressions in the coming weeks.
