Nokia 3310, more smartphones at MWC 2017

We’ve known for a while that Nokia and HMD Global were planning to reveal more Nokia-branded smartphones at MWC 2017. But what did the company reveal then?

Let’s be honest, you want to know whether the 3310 made an appearance — it did indeed. For 49 euros, you’re getting a feature phone with a basic camera as well as a 30 day standby time and 22 hours of talk time (not bad for a 200mAh battery).

Other 3310 details include a new version of Snake being preinstalled, a 2.4-inch polarised display for outdoor visibility, 2MP camera with LED flash and 16MB of expandable storage (expandable to 32GBs).

It’s also worth noting that the phone runs on the Nokia Series 30 feature phone operating system. So don’t expect advanced apps on this phone at all. You are getting an MP3 player and FM radio app though.

Otherwise, the Nokia 6, launched earlier this year in China, is now going global for 229 euros. For the uninitiated, you’re getting a Snapdragon 430 chip, 5.5-inch full HD screen, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The camera department sees users getting a 16MP f/2.0 main shooter and 8MP sensor for selfies.

Looking for a smaller smartphone? Then the 189 euro Nokia 5 is for you, featuring the same Snapdragon 430 chip, a 5.2-inch 720p display, 13MP f/2.0 main shooter and 8MP f/2.0 front-facing camera. Other notable details include 2GB of RAM, a 3000mAh battery and 16GB of expandable storage.

The most affordable smartphone in the stable? Well, that’d be the Nokia 3, at 139 euros, offering an 8MP f/2.0 shooter on either side of the phone and 5-inch 720p screen for starters. Other specs include a quad-core 1.3Ghz MTK6737 chip, 2GB of RAM, 2650mAh battery and 16GB expandable storage.

In a cool move, Nokia and HMD announced that all their Android smartphones would feature “pure Android” and the Google Assistant.

As for a release date? Well, you can expect these smartphones to drop globally in Q2 2017.
