Original article: It’s taken a while for the Xbox One S revision to (sort of) make it to SA shores. The device is now up for pre-order on a number of stores, but there’s no date as to when it’ll actually arrive.
The console will set you back R4999 for the 500GB model and R5999 for the 1TB edition. These base units don’t come with much, except for a few cables and the revised Xbox Ons S controller, which features Bluetooth.
Local Microsoft video game distributor, Prima Interactive, is sweetening the deal with these pre-orders by including an additional controller, and either a copy of FIFA 17 or a one-year Xbox Live subscription.
Asking consumers to pre-order a console with no local release date is an interesting move, not to mention Nintendo’s Switch will be out in two weeks. It must also be noted that the device has been cheaper directly from Amazon UK (under R4000 for a 500GB with shipping included) when the retailer has run specials.
The Xbox One S is 40% slimmer than the original model, supports Ultra HD Blu-ray discs, and HDR. It’s also slightly more powerful, doesn’t need the bulky power brick, and is available in a stylish white colour.
