LG G6 hits South Africa this Friday
The Galaxy S8 is just over a month away from its South African launch, but the LG G6 will beat Samsung‘s latest device to local shores.
Yes, LG has confirmed on its website (and on Twitter) that its latest high-end smartphone will be available from Friday, 7 April.

The new smartphone packs a Snapdragon 821 chip, 4GB of RAM, super-thin bezels and IP68 water resistance. Additionally, LG has implemented a 2880×1440 LCD screen (with a tall, 18:9 screen ratio) and HDR support (HDR 10 and Dolby Vision).
Other features include 32GB of expandable storage, a 3300mAh battery, a 5MP selfie camera and two 13MP main cameras. One 13MP camera is a f/1.8 snapper and the other is a f/2.4 wide-angle camera.
The LG G6 will be launching in South Africa on Friday, the company confirmed
Unfortunately, LG has chosen to make a few other features market-specific, such as wireless charging, 64GB of expandable storage and the quad DAC hardware. Several Asian markets get 64GB of space and/or the quad DAC hardware, while wireless charging is a US exclusive. Europe and South Africa get neither feature.
We’ve asked LG South Africa for local pricing, but the company says we’ll find out at the local G6 event, taking place tomorrow (4 April).
