Bouncy Hoops and Racey Rocket: this week’s top mobile games
Welcome to Gearburn’s Mobile Game Picks of the Week, a weekly series in which Hadlee takes a look at the latest, most entertaining, or time-consuming mobile games on portable screens.
Another week, another look at the world of mobile games. It’s going to be tough to top last week’s selection, but we’ve got some solid picks anyway.
Our top titles this week are Bouncy Hoops and Oh… Sir! The Hollywood Roast. But we’ve got four picks in total for you.
Oh… Sir! The Hollywood Roast (paid – iOS)
We loved Oh… Sir! The Insult Simulator when it was released last year, as you combine words from a pool to create Monty Python-style insults.
It actually seems like a no-brainer to take this same formula and apply it to a celebrity roast-style format. And that’s what the team has done, as you essentially conduct a roast battle.
Other than the change in format, you’ve also got a tweaked career mode and a “comeback” mechanic to turn the tables on your opponent. In any event, the game is available for R50.
Racey Rocket (free – Android)
Some of the best mobile games combine bite-sized levels with quick reflexes, and that’s just what Racey Rocket brings to the table.
You’ll control a rocket, flinging it through various levels. You’ll need to drag and hold to aim the rocket, making sure to avoid red walls, while bouncing off purple walls and gliding along blue walls.
It’s pretty easy to understand then and, after the first few stages, you’ll be pulling finger gymnastics in vain. Racey Rocket is currently in early access for Android.
Elder Scrolls Legends (free – Android, iOS)
This collectible card game has been available on iOS for a while now, but Android-toting people can also see what the fuss is about now.
The game is basically your traditional collectible card experience, but allows you to play a solo story mode or go online and fight others.
Otherwise, the game is available on iPad and Android tablets.
Bouncy Hoops (free – Android, iOS)
Noodlecake is one of the more prolific mobile publishers around, and their latest ware has just hit smartphones, as spotted by Touch Arcade.
Bouncy Hoops has you tapping the screen to fling a ball into the air, with multiple taps equal higher altitude. Your goal is to shoot the ball through a hoop as many times as you can within the time limit.
It’s a simple formula but it’s very effective, so give this a go if you need something to play on the bog.
