Exclusive: Moto Z2 Play, G5S Plus prepaid prices revealed for SA
Last week saw Lenovo and Telkom team up to launch the Moto Z2 Play and Moto G5S Plus in South Africa, being available on contract via the network.
The cheaper G5S Plus starts at R289 a month on a 24-month FreeMe 1GB package, while the Z2 Play (and speaker Moto Mod) starts at R429 a month for the same package. But what about prepaid pricing?
In response to a Gearburn query, Lenovo has revealed off-contract pricing for the two devices. The G5S Plus will set you back R4999 and the Moto Z2 Play and speaker mod will have an R8799 price tag.
The cheaper handset features a power-sipping but mid-range Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB/32GB or 4GB/64GB variants, a 5.5-inch full HD LCD screen, dual 13MP main camera and an 8MP selfie shooter. Other noteworthy specs include a 3000mAh battery with fast-charging, a front-mounted fingerprint scanner and splash-resistance.
Meanwhile, the Z2 Play offers a slightly better Snapdragon 626 processor, 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED screen, 3GB/32GB or 4GB/64GB variants, 12MP f/1.7 main camera and 5MP selfie shooter. Other noteworthy features include Moto Mod compatibility, front-mounted fingerprint scanner, 3000mAh battery and splash-resistance.
Want a more powerful Lenovo handset? Well, we’re still waiting word on the Moto X4 and Moto Z2 Force for South Africa. Fortunately, Burn Media’s Andy Walker reported on both phones at IFA 2017, going hands-on with the second-generation Force too.
The original Moto Z Play wasn’t our favourite phone, but a long-lasting battery and solid performance makes it stand out nonetheless. Read our review here.
