IFA 2017: The previously confirmed Hisense A2 Pro is now official
Back in July, Hisense held an event for South African press, detailing its product lineup for the rest of the year. We managed to get a scoop from the company, confirming that they were readying the A2 Pro, an upgraded version of its dual-screen smartphone.
Now, Hisense has used IFA 2017 to finally make it official — so what’s different in the successor?
The Pro model delivers a power-sipping Snapdragon 625 processor, a 12MP main camera and a 16MP selfie shooter. By comparison, the first A2 featured a less powerful Snapdragon 430 processor, 16MP main shooter and 5MP front-facing camera.
Otherwise, both devices feature 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage and a 3000mAh battery.
The A2 Pro maintains the 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED screen and 5.2-inch 960×540 e-ink display too. The latter is used for reading but can also mirror the entire Android experience or serve up widgets.
Other than the processor and camera tweaks, the biggest upgrade comes in the form of a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, akin to Sony’s smartphones.
The A2 Pro is tentatively expected to arrive in South Africa in early 2018, Hisense SA’s Tony Shi told us in July. We’ve contacted the company’s representatives for more information.
