Nokia 2 official: a new entry-level champ? [Update: SA-bound]
We’ve known about the Nokia 2 for some time now, but HMD Global has made it official today. So what should you expect?
As the name implies, this is positioned as a low-end smartphone, packing an entry-level Snapdragon 212 quad-core chipset, 8GB of expandable storage and 1GB of RAM. Other noteworthy specs include a 5-inch 720p display, hybrid SIM slot and a large 4100mAh battery. In the case of the latter, HMD is promising two days of usage as a result.
In the camera department, you’re getting an 8MP main camera and a 5MP front-facing snapper. You’re also getting Android 7.1.1, but HMD is promising frequent feature and security updates, much like the other phones.
We’ve contacted HMD’s local representatives to find out about Nokia 2 availability in South Africa. But if the phone can come in under the R2000 Nokia 3, well, it would seem like a no-brainer…
Update: HMD’s local representatives told us that the phone would definitely be coming before the end of the year. We’re expecting pricing and release information shortly.
