PUBG gets Xbox One release date, just before end of year
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) has undoubtedly been the smash hit of 2017, offering a battle royale formula that’s become a phenomenon.
We already knew that the game was coming to Xbox One, but what about a release date?
“Xbox fans, we know you’ve been waiting and we’re so excited to finally be able to say it — PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is coming to Xbox One as a console launch exclusive through the Xbox Game Preview programme on December 12, 2017!” read a post by the developer on Major Nelson’s website.
The developer added that it was on track to launch version 1.0 of the PC version next month as well.
“Both versions are being developed at the same time, but they both have their own separate roadmaps. Various Xbox One features and functionality will change and come online over time just like they have on PC, with our goal being to have both versions align to each other as soon as possible.”
For the uninitiated, PUBG is an online action title that sees scores of players dropped on an island, fighting each other in the process. The formula has clearly worked a treat, becoming the most popular game on Steam. In fact, as of writing, PUBG has 1.4 million concurrent Steam players, almost tripling Dota 2’s figure.
