Rumours have been floating around since December that Huawei is switching from dual-camera technology to triple cameras. Now, the Chinese company has hinted at this switch…

Yep, press invites have gone out for a 27 March event (h/t: Pocket Lint) in Paris, with the invite’s background clearly featuring three circles. “SEE MOOORE WITH AI,” reads the tagline, featuring three Os as well…

For those keeping track, the Huawei P9 press invites featured two circles, hinting at what turned out to be a dual-camera setup.

Triple camera rumours gained steam after serial leaker Evan Blass reported on a digital artist’s portfolio of work. The artist, apparently working at one of Huawei’s agencies, uploaded images of what appear to be Huawei P11/P20 features to their online portfolio (including mentions of a triple lens camera).

Some of the features mentioned in the portfolio include 5x hybrid zoom, 40MP shots, better low-light performance (duh) and 24MP selfies.

A triple camera solution could also make for more versatile photography, such as a telephoto camera or wide-angle shooter as the third camera. But it’s unclear whether the third camera is a traditional RGB shooter or telephoto/wide-angle/monochrome.
