Commodore 64, c64 mini

We saw the classic versions of the NES and Super Nintendo, as well as the rebooted Sega Mega Drive come to our shores. Now, Apex Interactive has announced that it’s bringing the recently announced Commodore 64 reboot (C64 Mini) to South Africa.

The distributor announced that the C64 Mini will hit South Africa in “early April”, with a recommended retail price (RRP) of R1799.

As for features, you’re getting HDMI output, 720p resolution and two USB ports. In a strange twist, the rejigged console’s keyboard doesn’t actually work, so you’ll need to use the USB slot for a keyboard instead.

The console also supports C64 BASIC, allowing players to dabble with programming.

In terms of preinstalled games, we’ve got 64 titles (naturally), ranging from AlleyKat and Boulder Dash to California Games and Skool Daze. Don’t expect Gauntlet, Turrican and Lode Runner, though.
