The gaming phone may be the latest smartphone fad to snuggle up to consumers in 2018. And perpetuating that movement is Razer.
Generally known as a gaming peripheral and laptop manufacturer, Razer this week debuted its second edition Razer Phone.

Not your typical 2018 flagship (with notch, no headphone jack, and a screen so large it requires a crane to lift), the Razer Phone 2 keeps much of the original device’s specs.
It still features a 5.72 inch screen that refreshes its 2560×1440 pixels at 120Hz. Rather disappointingly, you’ll still only find 64GB storage in the phone, but it does come with a microSD card slot.
Razer’s even kept its camera setup more or less the same, employing two 12MP rear sensors, and an 8MP snapper up front.
Where you will see improvements is the processor.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 is a notable upgrade from the outgoing 835, and is baked with 8GB of RAM too.
Additionally, Qi wireless charging (alongside Qualcomm QuickCharge 4.0), an IP67 dust and water resistance rating, and Bluetooth 5.0 support are all nice improvements.
And, because, Razer, the Phone 2 now has an RGB logo at the rear which can be tweaked by the user. It just wouldn’t be a Razer product without it.
There’s no word on the phone heading to South Africa, but if you’re State-side, you can pick one up for a launch price of US$799 — US$100 more than the Phone.
