It takes deep, deep scratches to kill the Galaxy S10’s ultrasonic fingerprint sensor

Zack Nelson, better known as YouTube’s favourite smartphone durability tester JerryRigEverything, recently found himself a Samsung Galaxy S10 to destroy.

I mean, someone has to do it. And it’s good that he does.

In his latest clip, he tests the S10’s ultrasonic fingerprint sensor thoroughly with his extremely relaxing voice and sharp set of picks.

While he lauds the device’s solid build, he takes particular interest in the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner placed beneath the screen of the S10 and S10 Plus.

When scratched excessively with a level 7 pick on the Moh’s Scale of hardness, the fingerprint reader functioned admirably. But what about cracks?

Nelson whips out a level 8 pick on the Moh’s Scale, which created gouges that only sapphire glass can resist. This completely ruined the S10’s screen.

The ultrasonic scanner then fails.

In other abuse notes, the device’s button’s are removable by razorblade, while the phone’s body entirely survived the hand-bend test too.
