Shopping for technology is an even bigger nightmare than clothes. But unlike clothing, finding the correct stick of RAM isn’t a question of it being too big or small, but just too damn expensive.

Huawei Color Band A2 fitness tracker – R599 at Takealot

If you can get over the fact that it’s “Color” band not “Colour” band, the R599 you pay for this thing will feel like a steal. This is the green version, but still features IP67 water and dust resistance, a nine-day battery life, a heart rate monitor, workout tracking, sleep tracking and smart alarms.

RAVPOWER 10000mAh USB Type-C power bank – R649 at Takealot

R600 for a powerbank? Ridiculous right? Not really. Considering this thing packs 18W to 45W USB Power Delivery, it means you can charge your Macbook from this little brick. It also supports Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0, so most Android flagships will happily and quickly charge through it too. Notably, USB Power Delivery power banks aren’t common in South Africa just yet, but it’s nice to see more of them entering the market in 2019.

Amazon Fire Stick 4K streaming media player – R1199 at OneDayOnly

Right, so right off the bat, we should note that Alexa doesn’t work in South Africa. You’ll need an Amazon US account too. But, the drawcard for the Fire Stick is its size. The remote is actually bigger than the streaming stick, which can be shoved into any HDMI port in a TV. This makes it great for hotels and Airbnbs. And yes, you can watch Netflix and YouTube on it too. But just note, this is parallel import by OneDayOnly, meaning that “no guarantee or warranty in respect of such goods will be honoured or fulfilled by any official or licensed importer of such goods.”

XFX Radeon RX 570 RS XXX Edition graphics card – R2399 at Wootware

There’s never been a better time to build a PC. Storage, RAM and graphics cards are all reasonably priced once more, and this particular card is perfect for those esports titles you enjoy playing. You’re getting 4GB of GDDR5 memory with a 256-bit bus, a boost clock of 1284MHz, 2304 stream processors, and an array of outputs, including three DisplayPort 1.4 ports, a single HDMI 2.0b port, and one DVI-D port.

Transcend 300S MicroSD XC UHS-I Class 10 256GB memory card – R459 at Raru

Looking for more storage for you Nintendo Switch? This memory card features 95MB/s reads and 45MB/s writes, with a stylish grey finish. It also includes an SD card adaptor, allowing you to shove this card into your camera or SD card reader if need be. Do be aware that Raru’s currently quoting dispatcing times of between four to eight working days, so you may have to wait a bit to get your hands on one.

We’ll add more deals throughout the week, so check back in regularly.
