Samsung’s new phone has a removable battery with a rugged design

Samsung is launching a phone with a replaceable battery and rugged exterior, but it’s unlikely we’ll see it in South Africa.

Dubbed the Galaxy XCover Pro, the phone features a 6.3-inch 2400×1080 display with a 25MP punch hole camera, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and a pair of 13MP and 8MP cameras at the back.

It’s also “waterproof” and “shockproof”, Samsung notes.

But it’s biggest feature, and one that we haven’t seen on a Samsung phone in ages, is a removable battery.

The 4050mAh cell can be removed and replaced with another, making this rugged device pretty perfect for outdoor lovers or hikers.

But while it sounds suited to take on CAT Phones and Energizer in the local rugged device market, it’s only being sold in Finland for the time being.

That said, it’ll cost €499 from the end of January.
