For those who couldn’t wait to complain about the iPhone SE 2020’s price, you now have something else to moan about.
The Apple Watch Series 5 cellular is coming to South Africa, iStore confirmed on Friday, but it’s set to cost even more than Apple’s mid-range smartphone.

While the cellular connectivity via eSIM does allow users to ditch their smartphone, you’ll be forced to use the watch through Vodacom’s network.
As for those prices, the Apple Watch Series 5 GPS + Cellular 40mm aluminium will cost R12 499. The larger 44mm version will set you back R13 499.
Notably, that’s considerably more than the non-cellular versions which retail for R7999 and R8999 respectively.
Oh, and if you can’t quite afford the Series 5 but do want cellular connectivity on your wrist, you can also snag the Series 3 GPS + Cellular 38mm aluminium for R7499. The 42mm version will retail at R8499.
Preorders open in South Africa today via the iStore.
