Staying true to its roadmap, Samsung announced the arrival of the Galaxy A31 in South Africa.
First announced in February along with five other Galaxy A devices, the A31 sits plumb in the middle of the new range and is arguably the best value device of the lot.

It features a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with 2400×1080 resolution with a fingerprint sensor beneath it too.
Beneath its skin, there’s an octa-core Mediatek Helio P65 chipset (Samsung doesn’t actually mention this in marketing material), 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. There’s also a microSD card slot.
For the snap-happy, there’s a 48MP camera headlining alongside an 8MP ultrawide camera, 5MP macro camera, and 5MP depth sensor. Up front there’s a 20MP mounted in a waterdrop notch.
Further notable details include a headphone jack, a 5000mAh battery, 15W charging, and NFC.
Notably, that’s the same battery capacity you’ll find on the Galaxy S20 Ultra. If anything, this phone should go quite a while between charges.
According to Samsung, the phone’s already available in South Africa but doesn’t provide a recommended retail price.
In February it gave us a quote of R5499, but this was, well, before 2020 happened. Local retailer Cellucity has it listed for R6999, while Vodacom is offering it on contract for R399pm.
