HUAWEI has brought another laptop to South African shores with the local launch of the MateBook 14 — a business laptop that’s great for young professionals.

From its touch display to its portability, here are five features that make it perfect for the productivity requirements of modern workers.

1. The MateBook 14’s 2K touchscreen

The HUAWEI MateBook 14 comes equipped with a 14-inch 2K FullView touchscreen display.

This not only gives you the crisp visuals of a 2160 x 1440 pixel resolution, but also gives you the handy convenience of touch functionality.

The 90% screen-to-body ratio already gives you an immersive experience, but being able to use your hands to navigate and interact adds an extra dimension of functionality.

This includes gestures enabled by HUAWEI software. With the touchscreen, you can zoom in on and select elements on your screen. But you can also swipe down on the screen with three fingers to capture a screenshot quickly and easily.

You can enjoy the convenience and productivity this display brings to your daily workflow.

2. Performance thanks to 11th Gen Intel

In terms of processing hardware, the MateBook 14 has an 11th Generation Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor. This gives you access to some of the newest CPU technology Intel has to offer.

It also includes Intel’s SuperFin technology, which helps boost your CPU’s multi-core performance.

Along with its 16GB of RAM, when it comes to daily office work, you can know that the MateBook 14 is ready and capable of handling your applications and multitasking.

3. MateBook 14 battery life and fast charging

While most of us use our laptops while they’re plugged in, a long battery life and quick charging add extra convenience when it comes to working on the move and switching up your work setup.

The MateBook 14 comes with a 56 Wh battery that supports 65W charging. With its battery capacity, you can get enough battery life to support local Full HD video playback for up to 11 hours, and a normal office workload for up to 12 hours.

When it comes to charging, you’ll get 2.5 hours of use from just 15 minutes of charging.

4. Portability with its slim form factor

The HUAWEI MateBook 14 weighs only 1.49kg and measures 15.9mm thick, making it a laptop that’s easy to carry and move around.

This makes the laptop a great solution for working in a variety of setups — from a standalone device while working remotely, to part of a multi-screen setup in the office.

And at only 30cm wide, you don’t have to worry about carrying around a bulky bag when it’s time to get on the move again with the laptop.

5. Easy security with the MateBook 14 fingerprint sensor

When you’re using a laptop for work, you definitely don’t want people snooping around on your device.

The MateBook 14 offers a convenient security solution with its power button — which includes a fingerprint sensor.

This offers an alternative login method for your laptop that doesn’t require you to remember a complicated password.

Where to buy the MateBook 14 in South Africa

The HUAWEI MateBook 14 is available for a price of R24 999.

You can buy it from the HUAWEI Online Store, where it comes with a premium HUAWEI Backpack, HUAWEI Bluetooth mouse, and HUAWEI VIP service — all valued at R2 997.

You can also purchase it from Incredible Connection, Takealot, Vodacom, and MTN.

For professionals on a budget: The Matebook D15 i3

If you are looking for a laptop at a lower price bracket, HUAWEI also offers its MateBook D15 i3 for young professionals.

The company introduced its Intel range of MateBook D laptops to South Africa earlier this year. The D 15 i3 includes many of the productivity perks of other MateBook laptops, but at a more affordable price bracket.

While it scales back on some of the hardware and its display does not support touch functionality, it comes with useful features such as HUAWEI’s fingerprint sensor, a 15.6-inch Full HD display, and a thin-and-light form factor that’s easy to carry.
