Xbox unwraps new Home experience

The new layout will arrive later this week and showcases some interesting features for users.

It’s basically a game art feature that showcases new artwork when users hover over the dashboard title.
The feature has been in the testing phase for a while and Microsoft unveiled the feature with plans to continue testing.
The latest dashboard update provides users with more background and is available to Xbox owners in the Alpha and Alpha skip-ahead test rings.
Scrolling across the updated background will make the list of titles you hover over larger and allows easy access to the library, search tab and settings app.
Ivy Krislov, Senior Product Manager made the announcement confirming that users in the Alpha skip-ahead and alpha rings will be able to preview a new version of their Home experience.
“This updated design incorporates the feedback we’ve heard from you along with all the learnings from our earlier experiments,” Xbox confirmed.
“As we mentioned when we paused our experiments last month, we heard you tell us that the changes to the top of Home felt crowded and didn’t leave enough space for you to enjoy your background. So, we designed hundreds of options, then refined with prototypes and finally user-tested in our Research labs until we found one we hope you’ll love. It balances the experience, accessibility, function, and the needs of our community. We are excited to hear what you think.”
The new feature provides:
- Easy navigation to the library, Microsoft store, search and settings tab.
- A quick and responsive layout
- Simplified layout, by moving some titles to the bottom of the screen.
“We’ve also updated the tile that opened ‘My games and apps’ to let you know when there’s something new or needs your attention,” Xbox said in their blog.
“As the experience is not final, you may see updates either from your library or the Microsoft Store. For example, if there are items from your wish list on sale, you may get an update that shows up on your Home in that tile.”
