LG smartwatches, Android Wear 2.0 date leaked
LG is teaming up with Google to reveal two new smartwatches next month, it has been reported.
According to VentureBeat‘s Evan Blass, LG and Google plan to reveal the Watch Sport and the smaller Watch Style. The watches are purportedly set to launch alongside Android Wear 2.0 on 9 February.
VentureBeat adds that the smartwatches will go on sale in the USA a day after launch.
But one of the more notable nuggets of information is that the watches will apparently copy Apple and include a Digital Crown wheel for navigation.
Android Wear is due for an upgrade, and it appears that LG has two smartwatches to showcase the update
The Watch Sport features a 1.38-inch 480×480 display, 430mAh battery and 768MB of RAM, while the Watch Style has a 1.2-inch 360×360 screen, 240mAh battery and 512MB of RAM (with WiFi and Bluetooth only), VentureBeat explained.
It added that the Sport will boast cellular connectivity, GPS and NFC (for Android Pay), while the Style will only have WiFi and Bluetooth functionality.
Otherwise, expect compatibility with iOS, IP68 water resistance for the Sport, IP67 water resistance for the Style and Google Assistant on both devices.
Already have an Android Wear watch? Well, a few of them are being upgraded to Android Wear 2.0, such as the Moto 360 Gen 2 and Sport, several newer LG smartwatches and Fossil’s range, Blass clarified on Twitter. In other words, those with the slick Huawei Watch seem to be out of luck.
