Nintendo Switch breaks company records in Europe
Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo Switch has enjoyed the best launch weekend for a Nintendo console in Europe.
“We can confirm that, across Europe, Nintendo Switch sold more in its launch weekend than any other Nintendo hardware in history,” the company’s local representatives wrote in an email to Gearburn.
It’s not the only spot of good news on this front, as Nintendo said that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild enjoyed the best first-weekend sales for a Nintendo launch title in Europe. The company added that Breath of the Wild topped Wii Sports in terms of first-weekend sales.
Despite some teething issues related to hardware, the Nintendo Switch has broken opening records in Europe
The Kyoto video game firm added that the figures were pretty notable given the March launch window.
The news also comes after reports that the Nintendo Switch broke first-two day sales records in the USA as well. The reports added that, much like Europe, Breath of the Wild was a record-breaker during this period.
The real question will be whether Nintendo can maintain the momentum for the rest of 2017, although Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2 are also set for launch later this year.
