Humble Bundle and Framed 2: this week’s top mobile games
Welcome to Gearburn’s Mobile Game Picks of the Week, a weekly series in which Hadlee takes a look at the latest, most entertaining, or time-consuming mobile games on portable screens.
Looking for the latest and greatest mobile games? Or maybe you just want a great deal? Either way, we’ve got the goods for you once again.
We’ve got five great entries this week, including a new Humble Bundle and Framed 2. Scroll down for the full rundown below.
Sonic the Hedgehog (free – Android, iOS)
Sega has released its Sega Forever initiative a few days ago, bringing a slew of retro games to mobile platforms.
Easily one of the most prominent titles is Sonic the Hedgehog, which was already available on mobile but has now been given the Sega Forever treatment. So that means advertisements, tweaked controls and support for controllers.
Don’t care for the ads? Then you can splash out around R29 to remove them.
The Floor is Lava (free – Android, iOS)
The floor is lava meme/game has seen a resurgence in recent months for some reason. And like clockwork, we’ve got a Ketchapp game to go with it.
The game is an endless running title, as you hop across beds, chairs and other obstacles to avoid the floor. It’s pretty self-explanatory and simple then.
It’s a simple, “me-too” concept and the ads can be a little annoying at times, but endless running fans will enjoy it.
This War of Mine (paid – Android, iOS)
Indie hit This War of Mine isn’t a new release this week, but it has received a sizeable discount at the time of writing.
The game has you controlling a group of civilians trying to survive a war, dodging snipers, sifting for supplies and trading with others. Those looking for gung-ho antics will need to search elsewhere.
This War of Mine usually has a price tag of over R150, but it’s currently on sale for R26 on Android and R30 on iOS.
Humble Mobile Bundle Roguelikes (paid – Android)
You can always count on the Humble Mobile Bundles to deliver great value for money. So what do we have this time?
Spend US$1 or more and you get SA’s own Desktop Dungeons, Bit Dungeon 1 and Bit Dungeon 2. Spend US$5 and you get Pixel Heroes, Dungelot: Shattered Lands and Road Not Taken.
Beat the average (currently pegged at US$5.26) and you get Heroes of Loot 2, Sproggiwood and Star Chindy: SciFi Roguelike.
Framed 2 (paid – Android, iOS)
Framed is one of the more innovative mobile games around, as you rearrange comic strips to change the outcome of the story.
Now we have a sequel in the form of Framed 2, taking place before the events of the first game. You’ll still be switching panels around, albeit in a new environment.
Framed 2 is available for R80 on iOS, but the Android version is up for preorder with no price just yet.
