Galaxy Note 8’s South African price, release confirmed
Update, 6.02pm: Samsung has confirmed that the prepaid price for the Galaxy Note 8 is pegged at R18 499. The phone will be launching locally on 22 September, Samsung SA’s Justin Hume told Gearburn.
Original article: Start counting those pennies, people. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be priced at R18 999, according to South African smartphone and electronics retailer Cellucity.
Marketing manager Gavin Geldenhuys confirmed the price to Gearburn in an email. It’s not immediately clear whether this is the official recommended retail price or Cellucity’s price, however.
Notably, three colour variants are also set to arrive in South Africa, akin to the shades used on the Samsung Galaxy S8. These shades include Midnight Black, Orchid Grey and Maple Gold.
Launched at a New York event earlier today, the Galaxy Note 8 is the company’s latest flagship phablet, packing a mammoth 6.3-inch display (2960×1440), Exynos 8895/Snapdragon 835 chipset, a dual-rear camera setup and 6GB of RAM.

Preorders for the device can already be done via Cellucity, the retailer added.
