Acer offers ‘free’ Windows 8 update for select customers
Acer is set to offer customers ‘refunds’ on Windows 8 upgrades for laptop and desktop purchased between now and 31 January 2013.
With the anticipated release of Windows 8 scheduled for next month, Acer has teamed up with Microsoft in a promotional offer on all its products. This promotion was originally intended to coincide with the release of its new Ultrabook in June this year and applies to all purchases up until 31 January 2013.
With the overwhelming response from consumers on its initial promotion, Acer has now looked to extend its offer and apply it to all Acer Notebooks and Desktops purchased between now and 31 January 2013. The crux of the promotion sees Acer redeeming customers purchases on all downloadable upgrades purchased from the Windows’ website during the same time period. This promotion has also been set-up for both online and in-store sales.
The Windows download is set cost users around R125 (depending on exchange rates) and will require customers to download one of the four Windows 7 suite options and purchase the Windows 8 equivalent for the above fee.
