Call of Duty blown away by Minecraft as Xbox 360’s Most-Played Game
Call of Duty has, for the last two years, been the most-played game on Xbox Live, but has just recently been knocked off the top-tier by Minecraft. The game, a console adaptation of the popular PC title is sold over Xbox Live Marketplace.
According to majornelson.com, Minecraft finally broke the hold that Call of Duty had for two years in May, and in the second week of October finally took the number one slot. Major Nelson (Larry Hryb), the director for Microsoft’s gaming network Xbox Live, provides an inside view to the workings and operations at the well-known software giant’s Xbox division.
The Major is known for not blogging these kind of results on a regular or weekly basis, so the announcement of Minecraft going to number one is quite… well major. Minecraft is considered an indie game. And an indie game knocked Call of Duty off the top spot.
