Huawei might’ve just launched the P9, P9 Lite and P9 Plus in South Africa, but the company also revealed some more interesting device details relevant to the industry at large.

“We’re doing the Nexus again this year, by the way,” Charlene Munilall, general manager for Huawei SA’s consumer business group, said in an interview.

The Chinese company developed its first Nexus device at the end of last year in the form of the Nexus 6P, alongside LG’s smaller Nexus 5X.

The Nexus 6P enjoyed a very positive reception for the most part, featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 2560×1440 display and (of course) stock Android.

Nexus devices are usually released to showcase the latest version of Android. For instance, the Nexus 5X and 6P featured Android 6.0, while the Nexus 6 touted Android 5.0 upon its release. With that said, the upcoming Nexus device will almost certainly run Android N, the yet-to-be-named next release of Android and launch more or less alongside it before the end of 2016.

Huawei South Africa also revealed that the WiFi-enabled Matebook wouldn’t be released in South Africa, but a cellular-enabled Matebook would hit the market instead.
