Schabir Shaik trending worldwide on Twitter after re-arrest
News of the re-arrest of convicted fraudster and former businessman Schabir Shaik has spread like wildfire across popular microblogging social network Twitter with “Schabir Shaik” currently a trending topic worldwide.
Tweets have been pouring in following the breaking news with a majority of users in favor of the re-arrest, some sarcastic tweets around his ‘failing health’ and some who are not in the least surprised.

Correctional Services minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has confirmed the arrest and told Eyewitness News that Shaik will be held for 72 hours until his recent assault of a Durban father at an Overport mosque has been investigated.
Shaik managed to cause quite a stir at the Durban mosque after he allegedly beat-up Mohammed Ismail, 42, who needed to rush off to his gravely ill daughter but found himself parked-in behind Shaik’s Jeep. After Ismail hooted at Shaik to move his vehicle, an angry Shaik “punched” and “pounded” Ismail before driving off. Read the full story here.
Shaik, no stranger to controversy, was released on medical parole in March 2009 after serving two years of his 15-year sentence, for fraud and corruption.
