Vodacom and Mxit to host the Mobile Media Mindblast conference with Google
The three biggest players in South African mobile marketing are hosting the first ever Mobile Media Mindblast on 3 June 2011 in Cape Town.
The conference, hosted by Vodacom Mobile Media and MXit, in association with Google will discuss how brands can effectively use mobile media to engage with consumers.
Mobile usage in South Africa is amongst the highest in the world, with almost 90% usage. This presents advertisers with a great opportunity to start conversations with their consumers in a space and time that they are most receptive.
Jason Probert, Executive Head of Vodacom Mobile Media says: “South Africa is the 4th largest mobile advertising market in the world. Due to this, brands are becoming increasingly interested and aware of the opportunities available in mobile marketing but are perhaps unsure of how to maximize this valuable medium and harness its potential.”
“The aim of the Mobile Media Mindblast is to inform brands on what the landscape currently offers, to educate them on how they can utilize the space and explore where mobile marketing is headed”, adds Juan du Toit, – Head of Marketing & Business Development at MXit.
The event has secured sought after global speaker, Joseph Jaffe, a renowned thought leader on new and social media marketing. He has been invited to share his perspectives on CBS Evening News, ABC World News and Bloomberg and has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times and USA Today. Jaffe says: “If television owns the home and the internet owns the workplace, what owns everything else? Mobile is the first screen, first place and third storefront or put differently, a mission critical part of the new marketer’s playbook”.
Other mobile marketing experts speaking at the event will be Jason Probert, the Executive Head of Vodacom Mobile Media; Juan du Toit, Head of Marketing & Business Development at MXit and Brett St. Clair, the Google Head of Mobile in South Africa.
