LinkedIn now lets companies update their status

LinkedIn announced a new feature that allows companies to post status updates to their pages.

With this new feature, companies whose pages are set to “designated admins only” can assign an administrator which will give them the flexibility to share the latest company news directly to all of their followers on their company page’s “Overview” tab.

“This is a great way to build engagement with customers, potential employees and prospects alike,” says Ryan Roslansky, director of product management at LinkedIn. “Nearly half of our members follow over 2 million Company Pages on LinkedIn.”

According to the professional social network, this new feature is an opportunity for professionals to learn more about the companies they have been following.

“If you’ve been following specific companies you’ll now start seeing status updates shared by the company in your homepage news feed. This will not only keep you informed of insightful content from companies you love and follow, but will also let you comment on it, ‘like’ or share with your own professional network,” says Roslansky.

Company status updates can be up to 500 characters in length with links as well as other media such as images and videos.

This new addition makes LinkedIn company profiles quite similar to Facebook Pages, and should transform the one-sided nature of pages into dynamic and more engaging entities.

Companies that wish to learn more as well as activate the new feature can turn it on here.
