Gregg Jevin’s ‘death’ ripples through Twitter: Who the hell is he?
Gregg Jevin is dead! The sad news of Gregg Jevin’s death has spread across Twitter like wildfire and the hashtag #RIPGreggJevin and Gregg Jevin have been trending. The news of Jevin’s death was first reported by popular comedian Michael Legge.
Wait a minute, who is Gregg Jevin?
A man born out of the imagination of Legge. He is as Winston Churchill said, a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma — the engima being Legge’s mind. His tweet of Jevin’s death was taken by the Twitter populace without question.
Sad to say that Gregg Jevin, a man I just made up, has died. #RIPGreggJevin

To be honest, I watched Gregg Jevin die so often, I’m amazed people think it’s something worth commenting on. Too soon? #backlash

Jevin’s Twitter account has been unusually active for a dead person, though as his bio suggests “reports of my death are greatly exaggerated, I only died a little bit”. He also tweeted a confirmation of his death just in case anyone was in doubt:
I can confirm that I am actually dead

Balcony T-shirts also created a shirt in honour of a man who doesn’t really exist, nobody knows, but everyone remembers fondly.
We thought the most respectful thing we could do was create a tribute T-shirt. #RIPGreggJevin twitpic.com/8nzc8q

Interesting that Gregg is trending worldwide. I remember when Diana died. She didn’t trend on Twitter at all. #RIPGreggJevin
