BurnCast: Alibaba and the biggest tech IPO in history
Welcome to BurnCast, our weekly podcast that discusses tech trends, innovation and news. Hosted by Mich Atagana and Stuart Thomas.
Alibaba’s upcoming IPO is one of the most eagerly anticipated in tech history. The Chinese ecommerce giant is pushing for a stock market debut that could see it raise even more than the US$16-billion Facebook managed to raise in its IPO, giving it a massive valuation.
On this week’s BurnCast, our hosts discuss what the IPO could mean for Chinese tech stocks, why Alibaba has chosen to float on a US stock exchange and what business the IPO even has being that big. While we can propose some of the answers to those questions, a lot of it will come down to what happens when Alibaba’s stock actually floats.
