The latest ‘Flappy Bird’ clone? That would be Netflix’s ‘Feisty Chicken’

If you thought the slew of Flappy Bird clones was anywhere dying then, we’re sorry, but you were mistaken. The latest branded clone is called Feisty Chicken and has been developed as a tie-in for the new season of Netflix’s hit comedy series Orange is the New Black.

The titular chicken comes from the first season’s fifth episode (titled “The Chickening”), which saw disgraced cook Galina “Red” Reznikov offering a gift to anyone who caught the chicken, in turn sending the entire prison into a frenzy.

Both Red and Piper Chapman — played by Taylor Schilling — feature in the game as the chicken tries to make its way through the confines of Litchfield federal prison.

“She flew the coop a long time ago, but she’s always on the run,” the game’s instructions read. “Living off the land, living off her wits and hunted by the women of Litchfield. Guide Feisty Chicken through obstacles by tapping, clicking or hitting the spacebar.”

The game’s pretty much as frustrating as the one it apes, but when you think about it that’s a pretty good metaphor for the prison experience.
