Sci-fi short starring Aiden Gillen is a stunning celebration of human ambition
You probably know Aiden Gillen best from his role as Little Finger in the epic fantasy series Game of Thrones, or maybe that’s not your cup of tea and you’re more familiar with his work as conflicted politician Tommy Carcetti in The Wire.
If this short from Platige Image and the European Space Agency is anything to go by though, he could do really well in the science fiction space.
The film, called Ambition, stars Gillen and Irish actress Aisling Franciosi as humans from the far distant future capable of shaping planetoids using only the power of their minds.
While it looks like it could be the basis for an awesome feature film, the short is actually a celebration of the Rosetta spacecraft, which in August managed to successfully reach and orbit a comet. The odds it had to beat to do so were pretty astronomical but that was just the start of its ambitions.
Next month, it will attempt to land a probe on the comet to run tests for water.
