10 moving #putoutyourbats tributes to Phil Hughes
Cricket lovers from across the world are participating in a moving Twitter tribute to Australian cricketer Phil Hughes. The hashtag #putoutyourbats, which involves Twitter users taking photos of their cricket bats is currently trending globally on the social network.
The young batsmen, who Australian captain Michael Clarke had earmarked for future greatness, died yesterday after being hit on the neck by a bouncer from fast bowler Shaun Abbot during a Sheffield Shield match earlier in the week.
The 25-year-old played 26 Tests and 25 One Day Internationals for his country. Ordinary cricket lovers were joined by current and ex-cricketing greats as well as cricketing boards in remembering the young batsman.
