Smirnoff tries to lure people to app with free Uber rides
Smirnoff on Tuesday announced a partnership with Uber which will allow people to use the ride-hailing service for free.
The free rides come as part of a bid to promote the vodka brand’s Explore the Night app, which now comes with Uber integration.
Launched in November 2014, the app allows people to find out what’s going on in their city on any given night. “While all rides are free,” Smirnoff says in a press release, “some rides are special!”

Users who request an Uber via the Smirnoff Explore the Night app will receive a unique Uber promo code. By copying the code, Smirnoff says, the Uber App will launch automatically. To redeem the ride, users need to paste the promo code in the Promotions section of the Uber app, which should already be installed on their phones.
Operating times for Smirnoff Explore the Night are between 19h00 and 02h00 on Friday and Saturday nights. Each user will receive a maximum of two promo codes per a night. Each code is valued at R 150.00.
