Twitter will soon let users broadcast video within tweets via Periscope
Twitter (like its plethora of rivals in the social space) is in constant flux, in terms of user base and app design. And it’s the latter that’s really trying to create a stable based for the former.
Speaking of which, Twitter has now added a button within the app that lets users broadcast live video using Periscope.
Spotted by The Verge, the little addition is only available to a handful of users, but it’s nevertheless interesting for all. The company’s calling it the “Go Live” button, and suggests that “all users will have the ability to start a Periscope broadcast from Twitter.”
Users who don’t have Periscope installed are directed to Google Play Store as well, the article notes.
Although it may sound like yet another gimmick, it does have its advantages. Notably, it will likely make broadcasting video a lot simpler, especially as its activated from within Twitter itself. It also better integrates Twitter’s two primary services, with Periscope often on the periphery of the company’s plans.
Although the latter’s user figures aren’t well known, we do know that Twitter boasts at least 300-million users.
