SA movie audiences lose interest in Captain America: Civil War [2016/06/07]
The latest cinema numbers are in (3 to 5 June). It looks as though SA movie goers are both loving and forgetting about Marvel entries.
The top three spots of this last weekend were dominated by X-Men: Apocalypse, Angry Birds, and Alice Through the Looking Glass respectively.
Even with the 20th Century Fox Marvel film doing so well, audiences are quickly losing interest in Captain America: Civil War. The Captain America vs. Iron Man movie slipped from eighth position down to number ten. It still has the highest ticket sales with R32 240 501, which is an increase of R443 233 over last week’s numbers.
The same can be said for The Jungle Book, which appeared last week in the ninth spot, but is now completely off of the list.
New on the top ten list is the mildly entertainment George Clooney and Julia Roberts flick, Money Monster.
Here are the top 10 watched movies in SA this past weekend:
- X-Men Apocalypse (Incl 3D, Imax, 4DX)
- Angry Birds (Incl 3D)
- Alice Through the Looking Glass
- Money Monster
- Mrs Right Guy
- The Boss
- Bastille Day
- Bad Neighbours 2
- The Perfect Match
- Captain America: Civil War (Incl 3D, Imax, 4DX)
