Uber riders can now ‘Compliment’ drivers for memorable journeys

Uber is constantly adding new content to its apps for both drivers and drivers, but this time its the former that’s getting some much needed love. Quite literally.

The ridesharing company has announced that riders in North America can now give drivers compliments in the form of badges. The system is akin to Facebook’s reactions system, and allows riders to award both five stars and, well, something a little extra.

“When a rider leaves a complimentㄧsay for expertly navigating winding city streets or striking up a conversation that brightened their moodㄧa notification will show up on the driver’s home screen letting them know what they did to make a rider’s day,” explains Uber in a press release.

Riders can access the compliments post-ride, in the ratings section of the Uber app.

The feature isn’t yet available in South Africa, but the company has been adding more features to the service as of late.

Earlier this month, Uber announced UberEVENTS in South Africa, an “easy self-service solution that allows every host the option to buy rides in advance for their guests”.
