Showmax finally gets Xbox One app, but what about PS4 version?
At R99 a month, Showmax seems to offer plenty of bang for your buck, owing to its deals with big-name studios. However, those wanting to watch on their gaming console have been out of luck, until now.
The Naspers-owned service announced that “as of today”, the Xbox One version of the Showmax app is available to download.
“The addition of the Xbox One app is the latest step in the continued development of Showmax,” the company wrote in an emailed press statement.
To grab the app, you’ll need to visit the Store tab on the Xbox One, use the search field to find ‘Showmax’ and then install the app. Once you launch the app, you’ll need to log in with your Showmax username and password.
Showmax has announced that the Xbox One app is now available to download
“To answer the inevitable question — yes the other console app you’re waiting for will be here soon,” Showmax communications head Richard Boorman noted. But how soon is soon for the PS4 app?
“It’s in testing so barring anything strange it’ll be here shortly. I don’t have an exact date yet,” Boorman told Memeburn.
The service has steadily been rolling out improvements and additions, such as Airplay support, Android TV compatibility, a handy bandwidth calculator via its website and downloads. But it hasn’t stopped there either…
In fact, the past few days have seen Vodacom reveal video data bundles for Showmax and DStv, a Showmax/VAST deal to download Showmax content via VAST WiFi networks and zero-rated streaming via Telkom’s LIT deals.
