Taylor Swift’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ breaks YouTube lyric video record
You just can’t keep Taylor Swift out of the news, even if she’s been relatively quiet for much of 2017.
With the debut of the new track “Look What You Made Me Do”, Swift has broke yet another record even if said record is a slightly odd one.
According to Variety, the lyric video for “Look What You Made Me Do” racked up over 12-million views in its first 24 hours, becoming the first lyric video on the platform to crack the 10-million mark in its first day.
At present, the clip has totalled over 41-million views, with over a million likes, and 101 000 dislikes.
The next most successful video on its debut was The Chainsmokers and Coldplay’s “Something Just Like This”, racking up a smidgen under 10-million.
Taylor Swift went one better, also debuting the live action music video at the MTV VMA Awards this weekend. While currently live on YouTube, it isn’t yet receiving a comparable amount of love as the lyric video.
Debuting around nine hours ago, the official video received only 14.2-million views.
Notably, the latter is also the second most popular video on South Africa’s YouTube charts at present. As for the most popular? That crown belongs to Katy Perry’s “Swish Swish” for now.
