The PlayStation 4 finally gets a Showmax app
It’s been a long, long time coming, but today the PlayStation 4 gaming console will finally get a Showmax app.
This new app will now allow owners of the Sony machine to use the Naspers-owned video streaming service.
The service has been available on the web, Android, iOS, Windows and select smart TVs since launch.
According to a press release, the app will be compatible on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro, and will support bandwidth capping.
“Our apps team has a very simple mandate: give customers the choice to watch Showmax however and whenever works best for them,” said Chris Savides, Showmax Africa’s chief.
“By adding the app for the PS4, the world’s best-selling gaming console, we’re aiming to broaden the appeal of Showmax and get even more people using our service.”
The app will be available from the PlayStation Store in South Africa only from 1 November.
The move comes a few months after the company revealed an Xbox One app. At the time of the Xbox announcement, the company said the PS4 version of the app was still in testing.
