Watch the first live action trailer for Disney’s Aladdin
Hold onto your magic carpets, because another beloved childhood property is about to get its first live-action remake.
Walt Disney Studios on Thursday published the first trailer for Aladdin, set to star Will Smith as Genie, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, and Mena Massoud as the titular character. But the trailer doesn’t spend too much time on any of these.
Instead, the sweeping dunes of Arabia and the man-eating Cave of Wonders (more like the Cave of Hungers, amirite?) are explored briefly.
What is clear from the trailer is the quality of the soundtrack. Prepare your ears for Harry Potter-esque sweeping strings and goosebump-enducing chords. It’s beautiful, and could be one of the highlights of this flick.
Overall, Disney does well to perpetuate the hype with a trailer that feels far too brief.
Disney’s Aladdin is set to debut on 24 May 2019.
