Opera GX is a web browser made specifically for gamers
Opera on Tuesday revealed a new web browser dedicated to gaming dubbed Opera GX.
According to the company, the browser “compliments” PC gaming, and “includes unique features to help you get the most out of both gaming and browsing,” Opera said on its website.
These unique features come in the form of Twitch integration and a built-in control panel, that allows users to limit the browser’s CPU and RAM usage.
“The CPU Limiter lets you put a cap on how much of your computer’s processing the browser uses, so the rest can be reserved for gaming,” the company explained.
The RAM Limiter restricts the amount of memory used by the browser as well. On the default setting, the RAM Limiter attempts to “strike a balance between memory use and experience”.
“The browser will try to stay at or below the selected memory allotment, but it will prioritize experience over the strict memory amount,” Opera further noted.
Twitch users can access the platform through a side panel on Opera GX, where they can receive notifications, see followed channels and fellow users.
Users can also set up their preferred messenger apps through the browser’s integrated side bar.
Opera GX can be customised too, and features a selection of its own themes as well as a built-in ad blocker and VPN.
The browser is available to download from Opera’s new GX website.
