If you really need 80GB of mobile data per month (and to be fair, who doesn’t?) it might just be worth considering this MTN 80GB Mega Deal.

The new promotion, spotted by MyBroadband, will give new and existic users on the MyMTNChoice 10GB contract 40GB of anytime and 40GB of night time data every month for 24 months.

The price of the deal? R299 per month.

Available from today through to the end of August, the deal can be had as a SIM-only option — with you keeping your current device — or alongside a phone. Of course, the latter will cost a fair bit more. You can also add on R30 per month and snag a MiFi router, too. (Or you could save that R720 and purchase a router yourself.)

At present, the My MTNChoice 10GB data plan already costs R299 per month, so adding 70GB onto that makes a lot of financial sense. The deal also includes an additional 20GB of anytime data, and 14GB “Entertainment Pass” data for use on social networks, Showmax, DStv Now and other services for the first month.

But MTN has advertised similar data upgrade deals in the past.

In November 2017, it announced a similar deal, but as an upgrade of the My MTNChoice 20GB package. It cost R499 then, and that hasn’t changed at all.

In April this year, it also offered a R40GB package on MyMTNChoice 5GB for R199 per month.

We should also mention that this deal doesn’t make mention of inclusive SMSes or minutes, so if you strictly use the “phone” part of your smartphone on a daily basis, perhaps stay away from this one.
