Apple TV+ launch

Along with its new range of iPhones, Apple on Tuesday announced that its video-on-demand streaming service Apple TV+ will launch on 1 November 2019.

Though the service was expected to match Netflix and charge customers $9.99 a month, Apple confirmed that an Apple TV+ subscription will actually cost $4.99 a month.

“With Apple TV+, we are presenting all-original stories from the best, brightest and most creative minds, and we know viewers will find their new favourite show or movie on our service,” the company’s head of Worldwide Video, Zack Van Amburg, said in a press release.

Apple also dropped a number of new trailers for the service’s upcoming offerings, including the eagerly awaited drama series The Morning Show starring big names Steve Carell, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.

Another drama titled See stars Jason Momoa and Alfre Woodard and follows a futuristic plot where humans have turned blind.

Unlike its Disney equivalent, Apple TV+ will be available worldwide. Users can access the service via the Apple TV app and on selected Smart TVs.

“Customers who purchase any new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac or iPod touch starting September 10 can enjoy one year of Apple TV+ for free,” the company also noted.

Those who sign up for the service can enjoy a seven-day free trial as well.
