Netflix is testing feature that lets you change playback speeds
A report by Android Police this week revealed that Netflix is testing a new feature that will allow users to adjust playback speed on the platform.
This means that users could soon watch their favourite series or movies at a faster or slower speed than the standard pace.
“This test makes it possible to vary the speed at which people watch shows on their mobiles. As with any test, it may not become a permanent feature on Netflix,” the company told the publication in a statement, confirming that the feature is indeed in the works.
According to a few Netflix users who have access to the feature, content can slow down 0.5x or 0.75x and speed up 1.25x or 1.5x.
Meanwhile, if you’re concerned about audio, Netflix further noted that the feature would automatically adjust pitch to suit playback speed.
Additionally, users won’t be able to set their preferred speed as default and will have to adjust each video.
“We have no plans to roll any of these tests out in the short term,” Netflix reiterated.
