Apple Music is making quite a splash in South Africa, at least in terms of year-over-year numbers.
The company, perhaps better known for its hardware and software, launched its Music service in 2015. More recently, it also announced Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade to service video streaming and gaming enthusiasts.

For music listeners though, Apple Music has seen a 45% year-over-year increase in 2019, compared to 2018. This is according to stats sent by the company to Memeburn.
Genres that have seen the largest growth in the country includes R&B and Soul, with a 64% year-over-year increase, Christian and Gospel with a 51% increase, and Afrikaans with a 48% growth spurt in 2019 over 2018.
Other popular genres include Hip Hop and Rap (up 47%), Pop (up 36%), Dance (up 43%), and Alternative (up 43%) year-over-year.
Apple Music’s now available in 115 countries, and its subscriptions are growing globally too.
As of Q4 2019, the company has 450-million paid subscriptions across its platforms, up by 120-million in Q4 2018. The company hopes to break the 500-million mark in 2020.
