SA websites see nearly 25% increase in unique visitors, push past 1bn impressions
Things are looking up in the South African digital space. The latest figures from online measurement tool Effective Measure, show that websites belonging to members of the Interactive Advertising Bureau South Africa saw a 24.3% increase in unique visitors from March this year.
In July, IAB SA sites 45.9-million unique visits, up from 27.4-million in March. That puts the daily average number of unique visitors at around the 3.4-million mark. Another key insight includes a large increase in page impressions, with Effective Measure suggesting that the IAB’s sites are collectively pushing through the one-billion mark.
Alongside these hard stats, Effective Measure released some key findings from its July survey, which saw some 165 772 responses. These respondents are randomly selected across all IAB SA publishers website and their demographic profiles are linked back to each site visited.
Some of the key findings from the report include the fact that:
- 31.4 % of respondent between the ages of 20 – 29 years
- 87.3 % of respondents use the internet to access emails
- 51% of respondents are female, and 49% are male – therefore, online browsing isn’t recognised more by one sex than the other
- 26.3% of respondents live in Johannesburg
