Jesus Christ is getting his own virtual reality movie
Virtual reality has taken the worlds of gaming, medicine and entertainment by storm, but what about religion? Well, enthusiasts of the burgeoning technology have found inspiration in Jesus.
Production and tech companies Autumn Productions and VRWERX will soon debut a virtual reality movie of Jesus’s life dubbed Jesus VR: The Story of Christ.
It’ll be a 90-minute journey covering pivotal moments in Christ’s life — his birth, his death, and his resurrection. And if that sounds familiar (like a certain Mel Gibson-directed movie), The Passion Of The Christ‘s executive producer will reprise his role for this virtual reality movie.
Jesus VR will also use a similar setting to Gibson’s movie as well as the same “religious advisor”.
The virtual reality experience will be available in 360-degree 4K video, and will be released on practically every available VR system right now: from cheapo Google Cardboard, to the Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR, HTC Vive and even the PlayStation VR.
According to The Guardian’s report, the flick is scheduled to debut, rather aptly, “this Christmas”.
