It’s 2018, and ‘Trekkies’ are still spoiling May The 4th for everyone
It’s 4 May 2018, or if you’re an internet nerd or American, May The Fourth. It’s a pretty important date for Star Wars fans.
But what is supposed to be a celebration of Han Solo, Chewy and the Darthest Vader of them all, some just can’t help but remind everyone that Star Trek exists too.
Hijacking hashtags like #MayThe4thBeWithYou and #StarWarsinFiveWordsOrLess, Twitter users brought the sass and snark on Friday.
I’d rather watch Star Trek #StarWarsInFiveWordsOrLess

Growing tired of the gag, some frowned at the “hilarious” few (million) who enjoy making the same joke each year.
This May 4th why not try a joke where you *hilariously* mix up Star Trek and Star Wars as I’m pretty sure eleventy billion people didn’t already do the same gag on this date for the last forty one years.

Some yelled out “Switzerland”, and watched the fight from a distance.
Never watched a Star Wars or a Star Trek

Meanwhile, the Australian House of Representatives we’re interested in starting a full scale war by posting an ode to Star Wars Day in Australia, with a GIF of Star Trek’s Cardassian battleships.
Happy #StarWarsDay Australia. So say we all. pic.twitter.com/XSOZBPWcb0

French game developer Ubisoft joined in too.

But forget the Star stuff for now, some on Twitter wanted to debate their own personal agendas, kicking off with Marvel versus DC.
Choosing between Star Wars and Star Trek is like choosing between Marvel and DC Comics. Both are good.

And for some reason, The Office and Parks and Recreation we’re dragged into the conversation too. The nerve.
DC > Marvel
Star Wars > Star Trek
The Office > Parks and Rec
Audio of 24 hours of cats meowing > every Drake song ever.

We agree with the feline sentiment, though.
Whichever side of the fence you’re on, we hope you all live long and prosper, and may the force be with you.
